Have you ever wished your landscape portfolio would open directly to the Zenfolio gallery slideshow when a visitor clicked on the link in your site menu? How awesome would it be if when a potential portrait client clicked on your portrait portfolio link they were immediately wowed by a fullscreen slideshow loaded with your best portrait images. No navigating through the thumbnail page to click the slideshow button on the photo page, but straight to the goods in one click! Well wish no longer, because using the Zenfolio slideshow sharing feature, and a little customization of your site menu, I am going to show you how to set your gallery to open straight to the gallery slideshow!

     The first step is to either select or create the gallery you want to open directly to the gallery slideshow. If you need help creating a gallery I suggest reading this Zenfolio Help guide "Create a gallery, group, or collection"  also for instructions on how to upload, this guide is helpful "Uploading to Zenfolio". Quick note, you will need to use a gallery, or a collection, groups do not have the same gallery slideshow function, if you would like to know more about the differences between a gallery, group, and collection see the notes at the end of this tutorial.

Set your Zenfolio Galleries to open to slideshowThis video will show you how to customize your Zenfolio website to link directly to your Zenfolio gallery slideshow using the sharing options and modifying your Zenfolio site menu.

This customization results in your gallery opening to the Zenfolio gallery slideshow first, when the link is clicked on your site menu.

    Starting from your Zenfolio dashboard, this is the first screen you see when you log in.

1. Click photos 

2. In your organizer on the left, locate and click on your gallery.

3. With your gallery selected, navigate to your toolbox pane on the right, and click the sharing & client access settings.

4. Click the share slideshow tab and copy the link it shows.

Now that you have the link, you need to customize your site menu in customize visitor view.

Hover over "my Zenfolio" in the top right corner of your browser window, and click customize visitor view. When customize visitor view loads, you need to access and edit the site menu.

If you have previously linked to this gallery from your site menu and are wanting to update it so that it loads straight to the Zenfolio gallery slideshow, you can do this by modifying the existing link.

1.Locate and hover over the link to the gallery on your site menu. Click the little pencil icon that appears.

2.Once the pop up loads, in the "Link site menu item to" section , chose the external webpage option, and paste the slideshow URL you copied earlier into the LinkTarget field, then click update.

If you need to create a new menu item for your gallery.

1.Click the “+ New” button on the top left located next to  Edit Site Menu.

2.Type your menu item title in the blank menu item field that appears and hit enter.

3.Once the pop up loads, in the "Link site menu item to" section , chose the external webpage option, and paste the slideshow URL you copied earlier into the LinkTarget field, then click update.

When you are finished, you can organize the site menu items into the desired order by clicking and holding on the little dots to the left of the menu item and dragging and dropping them. Don’t forget to publish your changes to make them live!
